The Official Photos!

Yes, they are finally in my hot little hands ... probably causing un-removable fingerprint shmears.. The Official Wedding Photos! I can't complain about the delay -- the photographer explained that we had been "bumped" in favour of the bride from the following weekend to us, because their best man was desperately ill with cancer and they wanted to have the photos to show him, while he is still able to enjoy them. So I send up a prayer for him, and for those newly-weds, and can now enjoy our own photos.

My dial-up connection is taking ages to upload photos today, so you will probably be inundated with random photos for weeks to come... but here is one of my favourites.

Drumroll..........

And here they are... a small selection of the long-awaited photos from our wedding! These are photos taken by a friend (still waiting on the professional shots). Hopefully my dial-up connection co-operates and I can get them posted today!

A photo of the vows, with our priest, Father Chris. Can you see the tears? Not in my eyes, in Brad's!

This one is when we were signing the register.

2 of the prettiest little flower girls ever - waiting very patiently outside the church, for the bride to make her appearance!

And finally, Naomi peeking around her Gran's shoulder ...

A day to remember...

Wow! So much planning and so much preparation, and the day has come and gone... now I pause every so often during the day and find myself smiling when I remember some little detail or happening on our wedding day.

But would you believe, I don't have a single photo to show you yet???!?!?! Our professional photographer estimated another 2 - 3 weeks before we get the cd of her photos - and the friend who took lots of photos at the reception has gone back to The Big Smoke with promises to send a dvd of photos as soon as possible.... but I promise to post photos as soon as they are in my hot little hands.

For now you will just have to picture this.... 2 little flower girls (age 7 and 4), in simple cream satin dresses, with some pink ribbon flowers, pink bows in their hair and carrying flower balls of pink and cream roses. Followed by 2 bridesmaids, wearing pale pink tea-length dresses in soft floating chiffon, with some roses silk-painted onto the skirts - carrying posies of burgundy symbidium orchids, pink tulips and soft pink roses. And then the bride, wearing a dress of cream satin, overlaid with soft tulle which is embroidered with flowers, and a scalloped lace edge around the short train. A simple ribbon and single gardenia in short hair. Carrying a spray of gardenias, hyacinth and cream roses attached to her father's prayer book.

Now, where can I possible wear that dress to again?? It and the veil hang in the cupboard now, calling out my name.... I am not going to have it cleaned and boxed away. It can show its somewhat grubby hem and slightly torn lace train with pride - as memories of the most wonderful day of our lives.

Its the little things...

that mean the most. Like how, after a long hectic weekend, and with a long, busy pre-wedding week ahead of us, I realised on Sunday night that I had our mothers group meeting at our house on Monday afternoon! Panic stations!

Brad was so wonderful - he calmly went about doing little things to help, while I was feeding, bathing and putting Naomi to bed - like, he tidied the bathroom after Naomi's bath, so all the toys were neat and the tub rinsed out. He swept the back verandah and brought around the extra chairs so we could sit out in the shade. He even walked to the corner shop to buy a litre of milk, so I had enough for us all to have tea & coffee. Just such thoughtful and helpful things that made me calm down and realise that I was going to enjoy a couple of hours out from wedding preparations.... and I did.

I can't wait for this Sunday, to stand up and tell all our friends and family how much I love him.

Veils and rose petals

Now I am getting VERY excited. Our wedding is on Sunday, 23 September ... yes, only 9 sleeps to go! It has all seemed a bit surreal - you know, lots of organisation but not much tangible progress. Until now. Yesterday, I had the final fitting for my wedding dress.

Now it is all so real. The dress is lovely - exactly what I wanted (but not really anything like the lovely lady in this wedding clipart photo!!). A bit vintage, a bit old-fashioned - a bit like me, really! Except I don't generally come with pretty scalloped lace edging! I can't wait until the day - but I know it will go so quickly, and then be just a beautiful memory to really start our life together with.

Our wedding is in a little church up in the hills behind our city - and to be different, we are coming back down to town on the cable car gondola ride ...

What was your favourite part of your wedding day? Did you do something quirky, or something to really personalise the celebration?

A fresh start to my blogging! The past few months have just flown by, and I am only just starting to feel like I may have my head above water again --- well, at least, I may not be in immediate danger of drowning!

Nap time has become the bane of my life - some days its great, she nods off during a feed, and sleeps for an hour. MOST days, though, I struggle for ages to get her to sleep, and then its a 35-minute catnap, at best! Grrrr.... not even enough time to really enjoy a cup of tea and read a chapter of my book. But today she has gone down easily, this morning, so I am hoping for a good sleep. Any nap time tips for a 6-month old would be greatly appreciated!!

Our September wedding is galloping closer and I have to confirm the order of the bridesmaid dresses today - I have been trying to contact the shop for a week, but get ring-outs, or leave messages. Starting to get a bit worried that we will run out of time - but if so, I guess we just shop for something the day before! (Trying to be relaxed about this!)
